

CALHOUN COUNTY FAIR CATTLE RULES

*Market Steer

Animals must be 6 months old to 2 years by date of the show.

To be eligible to show, animals must be registered with the County Agent or FFA Advisor by May 15 of concurrent year.

Animals will be divided into classes based on weight.

Steers must be halter broke and led into the ring to be judged by the exhibitor only.

Market Steer Minimum weight – 1000 pounds

Prospect Steer Maximum weight – 999 pounds. (Not eligible for premium sale)
*Commercial Heifer (Crossbred Heifer)

Animals must be 6 months old to 2 years by the date of the show.

Animals must have health certificate and BANGS test.

To be eligible to show, animals must be registered with the County Agent or FFA Advisor by July 15 of concurrent year.

Animals will be divided into classes based on weight.

Crossbred heifers are defined as any female that is not purebred or registered.

Heifers must be halter broke and led into the ring to be judged by the exhibitor only.

Heifers will show as market animals and are allowed Sale eligibility two years only.
Bucket Calves
-
Exhibitors must be 2-9 years old.
-
Calf must be 12 months old or less.

An orphan or newborn calf, male or female, dairy, beef, crossbred, on bucket or bottle at some point in its life up to weaning.

Calves will be shown on a halter.

Bucket Calves are not eligible for Junior Livestock Auction.
